Pricing, Sales & Marketing Intern

BGI Worldwide Logistics, Inc. – Long Beach, CA

Full-time, Commission

Come join and learn from the fast-growing freight forwarding team at BGI. We are seeking an ambitious, eager intern to learn from and help support our sales and marketing team, and to help establish pricing strategies at our company. This is a unique opportunity to collaborate closely with supply chain experts, contribute to the success of the sales and marketing team, and leave your mark on a newly developing service inside our company. BGI’s Intern will communicate closely with our senior leadership, staff, clients, prospects, and vendors to understand their needs and leverage all company resources to ensure the continued growth of our company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn about supply chain logistics, international transportation pricing strategies, and negotiation practices
  • Collaborate with sales to develop marketing, sales, and pricing packages in response to sales opportunities
  • Create and edit Request for Proposal (RFP) and Information (RFI) responses for BGI prospects
  • Collaborate with the sales team to mine sales leads and qualify new sales opportunities
  • Ensure accurate & timely CRM data entry, milestone updates, pricing updates, and quotations
  • Look for and implement best practices to improve sales, marketing, and pricing efficiency
  • Ensure clear communication and timely responses to all requests (internal and external)
  • Negotiate & optimize international and domestic pricing and routing strategy on behalf of BGI’s sales team
  • Strategically analyze data to understand close rates vs. opportunities and present to senior management
  • Stay current with industry, mode & trade lane trends, participating in industry events and webinars
  • Maintain and optimize standard operating procedures for sales, marketing, and pricing
  • Additional responsibilities in support of clients, prospects, and the BGI pricing, sales and marketing teams


  • Superior time management skills working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and manage change
  • Currently pursuing a degree in business, finance, logistics, or supply chain management
  • Highly proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal & written communication & presentation skills, tailoring messages to the target audience

Compensation & Benefits:

Part-time position (20-25 hours per week)

Competitive hourly rate + Commission


Remote position: Work from home; near a BGI location or key BGI staff helpful for periodic, in-person team meetings

Freight Forwarding Business Development

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Executive to expand our presence in the LA market. This new position is an excellent opportunity for motivated sales professionals who enjoy and thrive in a flexible, goal-driven environment.

You will be responsible for developing and acquiring a new freight forwarding business (All Modes & Services) in the LA market. You will report to senior management.

Additional responsibilities will include setting appointments, qualifying, warm and cold calls, pricing, proposal preparation, face-to-face client presentations, and providing innovative solutions to secure new business. You will also be expected to maintain client relationships through coordination with our operations team at our local Long Beach, and Rancho Dominguez, CA offices, and with our global partners.

Diligent CargoWise system use (CRM), pipeline reporting, and internal communication on sales cycles are key to success in this position.


  • Proven track record of success in freight forwarding sales.
  • College degree (preferred, although a high school diploma and proven sales experience may be substituted for a degree).
  • Knowledge of greater Southern California regional markets.
  • Knowledge of Trans-Pacific, European, and Latin America trade lanes.
  • Multimodal sales (Air, Ocean, Import, Export, LCL/FCL, Brokerage FTL/LTL)
  • Demonstrated business development and territory management skills.
  • Familiarity with computers including programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • At least 5 years of business development/sales success are required.
